Anechoic Hydroacoustic Basins
 

The basins were put to operation in 1962 and serve for the following purposes: experimental studies in electroacoustics, development and certification of electroacoustic transducers, hydroacoustic measurements, calibration of electroacoustic transducers by different methods, reproduction and measurement of sound pressure in water, measurements of amplitude-frequency and directional characteristics of electroacoustic transducers and antennae in the transmission and reception modes of operation, studies of vibroacoustic characteristics of model structures, testing of marine equipment under the conditions approaching the real operating conditions in the sea.

 

Large anechoic hydroacoustic basin

Anechoic Hydroacoustic Basins Dimensions: 2177 m3.
Mechanical equipment: two bridges moving along the rails and supplied with four rotary-coordinate units with load capacities 5, 150, and 1500 kg.

 
Acoustical equipment:

radiation channels:

  • in the frequency range 10-3000 Hz with the power 2 kW;
  • in the frequency range 2-600 kHz with the power 0.6 kW;
  • in the frequency range 1-5000 Hz with the power 25 kW.

receiving channel:

  • 0.01-600 kHz, narrow-band and one-hird-octave analysis in the real time scale.

The amplitude-frequency characteristics are measured with an error not exceeding +/-2 dB. The directional characteristics are measured with an error not exceeding +/- 1-2 deg.
 

Small anechoic hydroacoustic basin

Purpose: certification of electroacoustic transducers of different kinds.

Dimensions: 1077 m3.

Mechanical equipment: two bridges moving along the rails and carrying two rotary-coordinate units with the load capacities 10 and 150 kg.

Acoustical equipment:

  • automated second-category reference system for electroacoustic transducer certification in the frequency range 2-200 kHz on the basis of thereciprocity method under the free field conditions in the radio-wave pulsed mode, certificate no. 29-9 of May 24, 1993;
  • automated second-category reference system for electroacoustic transducer certification in the frequency range 1-10000 Hz on the basis of the piezoelectric compensation method in a small-volume chamber, certificate N.30-92 of April 21, 1992;
  • "Dnepr" reference system for electroacoustic transducer certification in the frequency range 2-5000 Hz by the method of piezoelectric compensation in a small-volume chamber, certificate N.3-93P of May 25, 1993.
